Hi, I am Annette Brown. I am so excited to be teaching first grade this year and to be a part of the Scholar team! I received my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Special Education from BYU. I taught at Stansbury Park Elementary School for six years and then took a break to stay at home with my children. During that time, I taught preschool. I have been trained in the SPIRE program and have many years of experience tutoring children who are struggling readers or who are dyslexic. I am happily married to an amazing man and have two sons and a daughter that I love more than anything! Some of my hobbies include reading, working around the house and yard, cooking, watching my children’s sporting events as well as other sporting events, and being creative. I love spending time with my family! I am looking forward to an exciting year and getting to know you!

My name is Cayla Betz and I am a fourth year teacher. I have taught one year in second grade and then found my true calling in first grade. I earned my Bachelors degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis is Language Arts from Utah State University. I grew up in Sanpete County on a farm and developed a strong work ethic and how to help things grow, and that is the same dedication I put into my class. It is my firm belief that mistakes are proof that you are trying. In my class I want my students to feel safe enough to make mistakes and learn and grow from those mistakes. When I am not at school, I love spending time with my husband and two beautiful children, traveling, spending time outdoors and reading. I look forward to teaching your child and working with you.

I'm very excited to begin my year at Scholar Academy! I have been teaching for 5 years, have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, and love teaching 1st grade. I am a HUGE Disney fan, and that rings true in my classroom, stamina, lesson plans, and even my Halloween costumes! I am married to my best friend Damien, and am the mama to a little lady named Alice. I am a huge advocate for those with disabilities, because my daughter was born with Down Syndrome, and is the most incredible little human! I believe that everyone has the opportunity and ability to learn, which is specifically why I use so many tactics to reach as many learners as possible. In my spare time, I enjoy reading as much as I can, traveling (especially if it's Disney-related!), painting, and playing with Alice. The way to my heart is definitely through a Diet Coke, and a good book. I'm stoked to start working, and cannot wait to help your students make leaps and bounds this year!
